Alison Hammond has confirmed she is single, sparking speculation that she’s split from partner Ben Hawkins – just weeks after it was reported they were ‘engaged’.

The presenter, 48, let slip her relationship status on Friday’s This Morning, when she exclaimed: ‘ well I am single!’ while discussing the new Love Island spin-off show with co-host Dermot O’Leary.

As Dermot read the casting call for new show The Romance Retreat – to be hosted by Davina McCall – he hinted to his co-star about signing up, telling her they were looking for ‘vibrant single parents’

To which she replied: ‘Hey, I’m single!’

The pair, alongside two other panelists were talking about how great the show would be, with Alison remarking: ‘I’m excited. And good on Davina for getting that one, I like that!’

To which Dermot – who is seemingly in the know about her relationship status – then interrupted, remarking: ‘Hang on a second, have a kid over 18… the casting call Alison says ITV are looking for vibrant, single parents from across the UK…’

With Alison then bursting into giggles before coyly adding: ‘Well I am single, I’m single!’

As Dermot then said there was a cash prize at the end of the series, and her co-stars egging her on to ‘do it’, Alison shared: ‘I’d give the money to charity, but I could do that and find a nice man!’

With her pal Dermot then joking: ‘Love and cash, your two favourite things!’

MailOnline have contacted Alison’s representatives for comment.

It comes just weeks after Alison awkwardly revealed she is not engaged to partner Ben during an episode of the ITV show amid speculation that they were to tie the knot.

This came just days after the presenter’s would be father-in-law, Colin Hawkins exclusively told MailOnline the couple ‘proposed to one another.’

Her co-star Dermot opened the show to the sounds of wedding bells and exclaimed: ‘I hear a congratulations are in order, someone is getting married.’

Alison laughed: ‘Cut the music! I’m not engaged, I’m so sorry I’m not engaged!

‘I told you, if I was ever to get engaged or get married I would be the first person to tell you! I’d put all over Instagram and TikTok!’

She continued: ‘Sorry, it’s fake news! I’m not getting married. One day it might happen, but sorry babes but it’s fake news.’

‘You’d be the first to know!’

‘I was looking forward to walking you down the aisle!’ Dermot joked.

Earlier that week, in an exclusive chat to MailOnline Colin Hawkins, 72, said that wedding bells are on the horizon for the pair after they both ‘proposed to one another’.

When asked if Ben and Alison were marrying, Colin replied: ‘I do know they have both proposed to one another but there are no rings that I know of.’

He also said how Alison was the ‘nicest woman we’ve ever met’ and spoke of how happy the pair are.

It comes after the loved-up couple were pictured for the first time together in February as she left Ben’s home wearing a green dress and a camouflage coat.

The This Morning star is said to have fallen for Ben – who was pictured at his Birmingham home – after employing him to tend to her garden at her West Midlands home almost two years ago.

It’s thought they have been together for around a year and a half now.

Speaking at his family home in Redditch, Ben’s father Colin has now said: ‘They are really happy but they haven’t got everything sorted just yet but they are both talking about marriage, that is true.

‘What I do know is that when it happens none of us will know about it because it’ll be done in private. That much they have told me.

‘I love Alison to bits. She’s the nicest woman we’ve ever met. I would love to tell you a load of stories and they are all good, but I can’t because she’s asked us to keep things private.

‘If you go to her when you’re in trouble, she will help you, that’s the way she is. I know they will get it together and I won’t be there to see it but it will be a very proud day for me. I will be Alison’s father-in-law and that’ll be lovely.’

Representatives for Alison have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

It was previously revealed she had a mystery man she was ‘willing to marry.’

The fun-loving television presenter is said to have employed Ben to tend to the plot at her West Midlands home two years ago, with the pair hitting it off.

The Sun claimed the duo were also spotted together again on Valentine’s Day.

A pal told the publication: ‘They love to hang out and have been for meals and down to the pub. They’re both down to earth and get on like a house on fire.

‘She makes him laugh and Alison thinks it’s cute he still lives with his parents.’

While her love life seems to be up in the air, Alison’s career certainly appears to be on the rise as she was recently announced as the new host of The Great British Bake Off.

The This Morning presenter had originally been mooted as a potential replacement for Little Britain star Matt Lucas, who announced he would be stepping down as host last year, in February.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Hammond, 48, confirmed her new role on the Channel 4 show by sharing a video of herself and co-host Noel Fielding alongside judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith as iced figurines atop a large Bake Off-themed cake.

‘Breaking news everyone,’ she announces. ‘Alison Hammond is joining the team of the Great British Bake Off. Alison, have you got any words whatsoever?’

Zooming in on her iced caricature, she adds: ‘Do you know what? I’m just so very excited. As you can see, all my colleagues are absolutely speechless. We’re so very happy and we can’t wait to get started!’

Captioning the post, she wrote: ‘It’s OFFICIAL!!! It’s happening The Great British Bake off! Let’s have it!’
