‘After a lifetime of looking, I am absolutely and completely in love with the kindest, calmest, most decent hard-working bloke who balances me perfectly,’ he wrote.

‘I was the guy who was told a thousand times when you least expect it, it will happen … and it did!’

Dave later revealed in a follow-up post that he’d lost thousands of followers on the app after making the announcement.

‘It’s a funny thing … I lost a few thousand people from this app when I announced my engagement,’ he explained.

‘So here is another photo of me in pure bliss with the fella,’ he added. ‘I wonder is it ’cause I’m no longer single or is it ’cause peeps be realising I’m a gay.’

Dave revealed the happy news of his engagement to Woman’s Day earlier this month.

The reality star met Pakistan-born Shazli at a Sydney pub in early 2022 and immediately fell for his his good looks and gentlemanly manners.

‘I thought I had hit the jackpot,’ Dave, once nicknamed by his Big Brother housemates as ‘the gay cowboy’, gushed.

The pair went on to enjoy a string of successful dates before their romance was put on pause when Dave returned to Big Brother for the 2022 reboot season in October.

While in the Big Brother house Dave realised that he wanted to take the next step in his relationship.

Just two weeks after he was evicted from the show, Dave proposed to Shazli during a romantic trip to Lord Howe Island.

Discussing their wedding plans, Dave said he hopes to blend Pakistani culture into the ceremony, but clarified that Shazil’s family won’t be attending.

‘Shazli came to Australia as a refugee, due to the persecution of gay people and family-forced marriages in his homeland. So sadly, he won’t have any family at the wedding,’ Dave explained.

In an interview about his love life in 2019, Dave said that fatherhood and his busy schedule negated the need for a husband.

‘We have this amazing family where I’m an integral part of their lives and it negates the need for chasing a husband,’ he explained to The Daily Telegraph.

‘But you never know, I’m still one of those blokes who’s looking and hoping and waiting (for the one).’

The handsome reality star came out as gay during a live episode of Big Brother, and eventually placed third in the competition.
