Bikini-clad Abbie Chatfield hits Bondi Beach after Melbourne Cup boycott

Abbie Chatfield enjoyed a laid-back beach day on Tuesday after revealing she was boycotting the Melbourne Cup despite being offered ‘a lot of money’ to attend.

The radio and podcast host, 27, soaked up the sun with friends at Sydney‘s Bondi Beach, paying no attention to the race that stops the nation.

She flaunted her incredible figure in a black string bikini while chatting to her mates on a concrete ledge near the ocean.

Looking refreshed after a dip in the surf, Abbie showed off her natural curls and protected herself from the sun with a pair of designer shades.

While Abbie said ‘Nup to the Cup’, her ex-boyfriend Konrad Bień-Stephen was seen attending the prestigious event at Flemington Racecourse.

The former Bachelorette star, 31, looked sharp in a light pink suit with a white shirt, blue tie and matching pocket square.

He finished his look with a yellow rose pinned to his lapel and a pair of dress shoes.

Konrad, who will soon be appearing on Channel 10 reality show The Challenge, was snapped enjoying a drink with other punters in one of the marquees. 

It comes just days after Abbie revealed she had refused a significant payday to make an appearance at the Melbourne Cup.

‘Guys I thought we were done with the races,’ she said on Instagram on Sunday.

‘I thought that wasn’t a thing anymore. Like, why are so many people going to the races. What the hell?’

Horse racing has remained a controversial topic, with many branding the sport ‘cruel’ and criticising celebrities who attend race-day events.  

While she hasn’t been seen trackside, Abbie did put in an appearance at the 2022 Australian Commercial Radio Awards in Sydney on Saturday night.

She told Daily Mail Australia on the red carpet: ‘I’m not looking for a relationship at all. I want a year of single life.’
