Fiz suggests Hope can do it in return for payment so Kirk calls at No.9 and offers Hope £5 to look after Peanut for the night.

Peanut moves into the house but then sparks concern as he growls at Cilla the chinchilla, the family’s new addition.

Later in the week, Hope is left horrified to find the door to Cilla’s cage open and then lets out a scream when she finds him dead on the carpet while Peanut watched from her basket.

Stephen’s life of crime was nearly exposed by Teddy during an episode which aired  last month, before he was hit by a vehicle on his way to confront Stephen about his son Leo’s absence.

It was revealed that Stephen murdered Leo after discovering the structural engineer was insolvent and stealing from his own mother.

Stephen took his phone and claimed to be Leo, texting Teddy to say he’d relocated to Canada alone and didn’t want either him or Jenny contacting him.

Shock! Later in the week, Hope is left horrified to find the door to Cilla's cage open and then lets out a scream when she finds him dead on the carpet while Peanut watched from her basket

For an amount of time his plan worked, but Teddy got suspicious and travelled to Canada to confront his son.

Teddy returned to bring Jenny the news after realising Leo had never arrived in Canada, but Stephen arrived before.

Teddy was subsequently hit by a van and taken to the hospital, where he was placed in an induced coma to save his life.

Then Stephen went to kill Teddy in order to permanently quiet him.

‘Teddy, you in there?’ he murmured quietly to the character, who was in a coma.

He continued: ‘This is the last thing on earth I want to do. I’m genuinely sorry for what I did to Leo. It was an accident. I panicked but anyway, here goes nothing, so long old pal.’

But, as Stephen went to kill Teddy, Jenny strolled back in, fully unaware of the situation.

Instead, she took him out of there so Teddy could be checked on by the physicians.

Back at the Rovers’ Return pub, she learned that Teddy would most likely survive.

Stephen was full of worry until he received information from six guys about his moped mishap and realised he could simply sue them for a financial compensation.

They agreed to his demands of £10,000 before the conclusion of the game tomorrow, and Stephen then revealed that he would be departing the country.
