Fifi Box reveals her ‘brutal’ experience with IVF and admits she only had a seven per cent chance of conceiving

Fifi Box has been very open about her IVF journey after conceiving three-year-old daughter Daisy using an anonymous sperm donor.

The Fox FM presenter, 45, revealed on her radio program Fifi, Fev & Nick on Wednesday the process was ‘brutal’ and ‘eye opening’.

She went on to say she only had a seven per cent chance of falling pregnant when she went through the process and considers Daisy a ‘gift’.

‘It was incredibly eye opening because it was brutal. This is the thing that we don’t necessarily get taught at school is the decline in your egg health from about 33, 35 onwards — it deteriorates at a rate of knots,’ she told her co-hosts.

Box, who also shares her nine-year-old daughter Trixie with ex-partner Grant Kenny, had 33 eggs collected in total with only three embryos making it with the donor sperm.

‘My egg quality had deteriorated so much. Freeze your eggs, it’s trickier to get to your late 30s and start freezing your eggs,’ she warned.

She continued: ‘I would go to the clinic and there are endless boxes of tissues. I would see couples, you’d see women just distraught going through cycle upon cycle.

‘I thought, “I want another baby more than anything.” I’ve got the rest of my life to fall in love, I didn’t have the rest of my life to have a baby.’

Box announced her second pregnancy in February of 2019 and declared she was filled with ‘pure joy’ over her ‘miracle’ baby.

At the time, she posted a video of her breaking the exciting news to Trixie while they sat on the couch.

The radio personality captioned the clip: ‘We’re having a baby! Yes Trixie and I are over the moon/jumping out of our skin/can’t stop smiling/floating on air/dancing in the streets/walking on sunshine and every other metaphor that conveys absolute pure joy.

‘How did this happen you might ask? Well, a few years ago I made an appointment to see an IVF specialist, the amazing Dr Sameer Jatkar at Monash IVF, and I began an IVF journey to extend our little family.

She continued: ‘After a series of egg retrievals and freezing, last year I started the process to become pregnant via an anonymous donor.’

Box and Kenny, 55, a former Ironman, split in 2012 after a brief romance. A few months later, the radio star gave birth to Trixie.

She did not publicly confirm that Kenny was Trixie’s father until the child was three years old.
