Idris Elba was every inch the charismatic leading man on Wednesday as he led a host of stars at the global premiere of his film Luther: The Fallen Sun, held at the BFI IMAX, Waterloo in London.

The actor, 50, cut a stylish figure as he rocked a mauve satin suit while posing alongside his glamorous wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba, 34, and dazzling co-star Cynthia Erivo, 36. 

Idris cosied up to Sabrina as they smiled for snaps on the red carpet as fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the stars of film, which has been adapted from the hit BBC series. 

The couple, who married in 2019, could barely keep their hands off each other, with Sabrina seen wrapping her arms around Idris as they giggled together at the event.

Idris showcased his fashion credentials in an edgy button-less blazer in which his shirt was also incorporated.

He teamed this with matching trousers and shiny black loafers. opting to forgo socks. 

Meanwhile, Sabrina stunned in a fitted black long-sleeved dress which featured a quirky, beaded belt.

The beauty styled her look with statement silver earrings, while her sleek raven locks were worn in a chic, cropped style.

Cynthia meanwhile ensured she turned plenty of heads as she rocked up to the premiere in a plunging silver fishtail dress which had a contrasting white flared skirt at the bottom.

The plunging sequin gown perfectly hugged the actress’ incredible figure, with the star allowing the dress to do the talking as she opted for minimal accessories save for small silver earrings.  

Idris is back once again as DCI John Luther, who was last seen being sent to prison in the dramatic BBC series finale. 

The star previously gave fans a taste of what to expect in the new movie, revealing that it will follow on from his ‘haunted’ character being sent to prison in the 2019 finale.

He told Entertainment Weekly: ‘He’s done so much to bend the law in order to catch the bad guys that he’s ended up in jail.

‘So that’s where we start the story. He’s contemplating what he’s going to do with his life.’

Meanwhile, Idris also spoke to Empire Magazine about the ‘dangers’ of moving the psychological crime thriller from television to film. 

He said: ‘It’s really dangerous when expanding from television to film to throw a lot of money at it, and for that moment to change the characteristics of the show.

‘I wanted to make sure that even though we had a bigger budget, we didn’t distort the parameters of Luther-land too much.’

Idris did not give away where the film will be set but did confirm that the new film will ‘break out’ of London. 

‘We break out of the gritty streets of London, we take it outside of that a little bit,’ he shared.

He also serves as a producer on the film, which was directed by Jamie Payne and written by Neil Cross, and will also star the likes of Andy Serkis and Cynthia Erivo.

The fifth and final season of Luther was broadcasted over four consecutive nights in 2019.

Idris revealed he wrapped up filming for the film earlier this year , telling LADbible : ‘The Luther film, guess what, we have finished it and we have some finishing work to do on the movie but it’s nearly there.’

‘We’re really proud of it,’ he added.

Luther: The Fallen Sun will arrive in select cinemas on 24 February, followed by a Netflix release on 10 March.
