Kristin Cavallari said that divorcing Jay Cutler was both the ‘scariest’ and the ‘best thing that I’ve ever done.’

The pair split up in 2020 and initially fought over money and custody of their children Camden, nine, Jaxon, eight, and Saylor, six, but have now settled into an amicable co-parenting relationship.

On a new episode of the School Of Greatness podcast she shared that she is ‘the happiest I’ve ever been,’ and in ‘no rush’ to leap into another romance.

‘The scariest thing that I’ve ever done is get a divorce, but it’s been the best thing that I’ve ever done and that has really jump-started my journey on self-love and figuring out who I am now,’ the Laguna Beach star spilled.

‘It’s interesting because I’ve been in therapy pretty much my whole life but this is the one time I didn’t go to therapy,’ she revealed.

Instead she ‘wrote a lot,’ which she described as ‘a way for me to get my emotions in check, really figure out what I’m going through’ during the divorce.

‘I have a couple incredible friends who’ve really been with me every step of the way. Couldn’t have done it without them, honestly. Friends I think are sometimes the best therapists on the planet,’ Kristin added.

She also made sure to find ‘time to myself’ and time to be ‘in nature’ on her new 28-acre property, which allows her to be ‘outside all the time and just breathing, meditating, all of these things.’

Kristin told host Lewis Howe that opening herself up to her emotions had ‘gotten me to a really peaceful place, I would say.’

She spilled: ‘I, and I’m not just saying this, but I feel the best I’ve ever felt in my whole life, the happiest I’ve ever been, and that feels really good. And I’m no longer afraid of getting hurt or – I’ve sort of gotten to a place where if things don’t work out, I’m okay with that, because I know something better is coming down the line.’

In past relationships she had ‘always been afraid of getting my heart broken,’ which she feels was ‘probably because of my relationship with my dad, and so I would wanna break your heart before you were able to break my heart.’

However in recent years she has ‘worked through that, and I actually am excited to see who I can be in a new relationship, ’cause I feel like I’ve done so much work the last few years that – and I’m in no rush to be in a new relationship, but when I am, it will excite me to see how different I can be.’

Kristin recently had to deny she was dating Bachelorette heartthrob Tyler Cameron after she was photographed kissing him in Joshua Tree.

She explained to Entertainment Tonight that she had ‘hired him to play my love interest in our fall campaign video’ for her jewelry line Uncommon James.

While she gushed over Tyler as ‘the sweetest human being on the planet,’ she clarified: ‘There is nothing going on. Great guy, [but] we are not dating, I promise.’

They announced that they were getting divorced in April of 2020, since which time Kristin has dated and broken up with comedian Jeff Dye.

Although Kristin and Jay initially squabbled over money and the children they have since agreed on split custody.

In September 2020 Kristin told Entertainment Tonight that she ended her reality show Very Cavallari in order to keep the divorce off of TV.

‘I didn’t want to talk about my divorce on camera and have to expose that. I really think that some things should be kept private,’ she explained.
