Awkward moment Calum Scott sings his hit Dancing on My Own live on the Today show the morning after the Logie Awards… but NO ONE in the crowd joins in
Calum Scott jetted into Australia to sing at the Logie Awards on Sunday night.
And while the British musician put on a stellar performance at the ceremony, he failed to inspire much enthusiasm during a live TV interview the morning after.
During an appearance on Channel Nine’s Today show, the 33-year-old sang out a line from his cover of Robyn’s hit Dancing on My Own and gestured to the crowd to join in – only to be met with awkward silence.

Host Karl Stefanovic asked Calum whether he could sing Dancing on My Own on air.
After singing a few words and waiting in vain for the Gold Coast locals in the crowd to join in, he laughed awkwardly and said: ‘We’re all a bit under-rehearsed.’
‘What do you mean? I feel fine,’ Karl replied.

Calum first rose to prominence as a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, where his audition was viewed more than 262 million views on YouTube.
In 2016, he released his version of Robyn’s Dancing on My Own, which reached No. 2 on the UK singles charts and was the best-selling song that summer.
The singer-songwriter released his first studio album, Only Human, in 2018, which peaked at No. 4 on the UK albums chart and was certified double platinum.
He also collaborated with Leona Lewis on the 2018 single You Are The Reason, which was certified platinum.

Calum, who came out as gay after the finale of 2015’s Britain’s Got Talent, previously revealed how coming to terms with his sexuality helped with his songwriting.
He said in 2018: ‘I’ve never been happier in my personal and professional life.
‘Writing about my sexuality and liberating myself from that has definitely shaped me as a person.’
Before he officially came out as gay, Calum said he feared his father would find out through the media and not first-hand.
‘I went into a songwriting session and cried my eyes out and told [my team] the situation, I said, “Boys, I don’t know what to do,”‘ he said.
‘And we wrote If Our Love Is Wrong about coming out to the press with my sexuality, and that became a cornerstone in terms of the songwriting process.’
