‘Me and Claudia are still together. We’re official,’ he said, before one of the hosts asked if their long-distance relationship would ‘survive’.

Austen replied: ‘Currently doing long-distance now, but as of next year, start of next year, I’ll be moving to Adelaide.’

The power couple won the hearts of the nation and beat out fellow finalists Mitchell and Phoebe and Callum and Madeline to take home the title.

But the road to love wasn’t easy for the pair as they faced challenges and drama along the way.

In a fitting finale, host Sophie Monk presented the couple with two eggs: one containing a cash prize of $50,000 and the other containing nothing.

It was up to Claudia to decide whether to split the cash with Austen or keep it all for herself, showing whether her feelings for him were truly based on love or just money.

In the end, Claudia chose love, solidifying the couple’s commitment to each other.

‘To win is amazing, but also to find a one in a million person like Austen is just incredible,’ Adelaide-based Claudia said in a statement.

‘I feel so lucky and I couldn’t have asked to find someone better. He is everything I’ve ever wanted in someone and more.’

Meanwhile, Sydney-based Austen said: ‘To win means so much to both myself and Claudia.

‘I didn’t go into Love Island Australia expecting I would come out finding someone like Claudia, there is no one like her.

‘We have such an incredible connection and our future together is so bright.’
