‘My goal is to lose 5kgs & get back to a healthier lifestyle.

‘I’m not saying there is anything wrong with how my body looks – I just want to feel better from the inside.

‘I need to eat better, drink more water & exercise.

‘This will also be super beneficial for my mental health. Who else made their 2023 goal to lose weight? Probably most of us. Let’s see how I go…. ‘

Married at First Sight’s Clare Verrall replied to the post explaining that ‘thinness isn’t about happiness or value.

‘It took me until I was 38 to stop making my NY resolution to lose weight & instead focus on my general mental health, loving my body & treating it like the incredible vessel it is,’ she said.

‘I have rolls, cellulite, very pale skin & I’m always covered in random bruises. However, I love my unique body now. Being thin isn’t happiness or your value in the world (even though you are obviously a ‘thin’ woman.) Everyone saying she is ‘still’ beautiful, she is just beautiful. Full stop. That’s it.

‘I realise I sound like my mother, but my God the media has made us resent our bodies which is so sad. You are beautiful inside & out. F*** diets.

‘Someone who is in therapy is so much hotter that someone purely focused on being thin’.

Another fan wrote: ‘Love your stuff normally but this is really unhelpful to those vulnerable to eating disorders and body issues, especially a younger audience. It’s great to have goals that suit you, but keep numbers out of it when it could have a negative impact on someone else.’

A third added: ‘Woah love your stuff but this is a bit damaging 57kg is very light and a completely healthy weight for jour size. I prob weighed that when I was a teen! Can be sparking an ED with this post. I’m triggered and I weigh 57kg which is completely normal BMI. Not appropriate for young audience’.

‘Not sure why you needed to add your exact weight and height to a post you claim to be about wanting a healthier lifestyle and feeling better from the inside,’ said another. ‘Followed you for a while and usually find your posts inspirational and uplifting but this is damaging. I think you need to be more careful with so many young followers,’ they went on.

‘Is it really “my body my choice”? ‘ she said in an Instagram story.

‘Because whenever we do make a choice to do something for ourselves and post it on OUR PERSONAL page; someone always has a problem with the choice we made.

‘So really, if we want to do something we have to ask permission on here and gain support before we are allowed to? I feel as though I have to seek approval from random people on my Instagram before I do or say literally ANYTHING! Or else someone will be offended

‘Or… all of a sudden I’m a “bad role model”

‘Scrolling through Instagram is becoming exhausting. Constantly having to walk on eggshells 24/7, to make sure you don’t say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing because there are so many new RULES to follow

‘I will forever stand by: if I’m not hurting anyone financially, emotionally, physically or mentally then I m not doing anything wrong.

‘Can we stop trying SO HARD to push our own personal beliefs/ opinions on other people. Forcing them to see things your way is never going to work. If something I post offends you or you disagree with it; unfollow or block. No one is forcing you to follow the people you have on Instagram. Stop taking everything so personal & for the love of god, stop being so sensitive,’ she went on.
