Hollywood glitz and glamour made it to the California deserts on Jan. 5, 2023, when the Palm Springs International Film Festival came into town. Making it all the more exciting, Palm Springs was able to host the event in-person for the first time since 2020.

Critically acclaimed films will premier and there will be intimate talks with directors and actors. Variety will also host an event for their Directors to Watch and Creative Impact Award honorees on Friday, Jan. 6.

The festival kicked off with a bang on Thursday night when stars gathered for the opening night gala. Honored there was Women Talking director Sarah Polley, The Banshees of Inisherin star Colin Farrell, Tár lead Cate Blanchett and The Whale star Brendan Fraser. The Palm Springs International Film Festival will close on Jan. 16, 2023.
