Paramore tops the ARIA charts with comeback album ‘This Is Why’, while Miley Cyrus keeps hold of her reign with diss track ‘Flowers’

American rock band Paramore has returned to the top of the ARIA Albums Chart this week with their comeback album, This Is Why.

In the process, the chart-toppers have knocked off Taylor Swift‘s Midnights from its reign on the billboard.

This is Why is the band’s first album in six years after they released After Laughter in 2017, which peaked at number three on the ARIA Albums Chart at the time.

They have also accumulated two number one albums in Australia; Brand New Eyes in 2009 and their 2013 self titled album.

Paramore found one of their biggest hits in Decode (peaking at number 12) which featured on the Twilight soundtrack in 2009, and become a Top 20 hit in Australia.

But they haven’t charted a Top 40 hit in Australia since 2014 with Ain’t It Fun.

Other track successes included Still Into You which peaked at number five, The Only Exception at number 17 and Ignorance at 35.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus has kept a hold of the top spot on the ARIA Singles Chart with Flowers as her new track has shown no sign of slowing down.

In saying this, Miley’s four-week-long reign could be jeopardised by Pink Pantheress’ Boy’s A Liar which has risen to the third spot this week from its previous hold on number 25.

The track would be the English singer’s first hit Down Under as Miguel’s Sure thing enters the top 10 at number seven, and Coi Leray’s Players hits number eight.

Players is Coi’s first hit single here, while Sure Thing has become Miguel’s second top 10, following his 2013 hit #Beautiful with Mariah Carey which peaked at number six.

Finally, Fred Again..has also risen the charts with ‘Delilah’ which jumped from 37 to 25.
