Ryan Reynolds says 'brutal' parenting mistakes with his 'wild' daughters help him learn

Ryan Reynolds has given an insight into parenting his three daughters during his discussion Creativity at the Pace of Culture on Tuesday in Cannes.

The actor, 45, shares daughters James, seven, Inez, five, and Betty, two with wife Blake Lively.

Looking handsome in a beige shirt and black trousers, he opened up on how his ‘wild’ children have taught him more than anything he has learned from his Hollywood success.

According to Page Six, he joked: ‘I’m a parent of three girls. They’re wild. I think they have rabies sometimes.’

Talking about his parenting style, he said: ‘I’m like any parent – I’ll have a moment where I’ll just snap.

‘It’s not so much what you do in the moment that’s interesting, it’s what you do afterwards.’

The Deadpool star also said that his ‘brutal mistakes’ have taught him a lot, saying: ‘I used to tell my kids, “Don’t waste your mistakes”.

‘When you’re making mistakes it’s easy to sort of be absorbed by shame and sort of this idea that you’ve done something wrong, but you also have to look at it critically and use it as a stepping stone to learning something profound.’

He joked that his own father’s mistakes have also been helpful, quipping: ‘He made a lot of mistakes. Some I’m grateful for.’

Ryan can also be seen heralding the benefits of fatherhood and a strong drink in his own spot, which is just as funny.
