Hitting back: Heart Dance radio host Toby Anstis was forced to defend himself on Tuesday after after calling the police following his ‘horrendous’ London Underground commute

Toby hosts Heart Dance Breakfast weekdays from 7am-10am and the Heart’s Club Classics on Friday nights from 7pm to 11pm.

An unimpressed follower wrote: ‘Toby Anstis thinks that he’s better than everyone else so he calls police so that he can be blue lighted to the studio’.

While another added: ‘What no chauffer?’.

Toby furiously replied: ‘It was nothing like that, it was pitch black, no power and a female passenger being intimidated, while we were all stuck on a tube train. How about you think before you tweet your total crap!’.

The television personality claimed that the problem occurred due to an signalling problem with train bosses ‘struggling to wake up’ an engineer.

Several Tube lines were hit with major delays on Tuesday after temperatures dropped to just above freezing.

MailOnline have contacted London Police and TFL for comment.

Speaking to his 41,700 Instagram followers from a dark train, Toby said: ‘Good morning so I’m currently stuck on a tube train, been on here for 30 minutes, about 20 metres from another station where I could have hopped on another train.

‘But apparently they can’t get an engineer to fix the signal and now all the lines have gone out, it’s freezing.

‘Thank you TFL for making life so wonderful at 7 in the morning! Sorry to Heart Dance listeners, I’ll be a bit late.

He also went on a Twitter rant to express his frustration on the delays, writing initially at 6.08am: ‘Currently stuck on a train on the #piccadillyline at a standstill for 15 minutes so far.

‘No announcement as to what’s going on, typically crap communication from @tfl and the driver?! Wtf is going on?! We all have jobs to get to! Apologies @heartdance listeners if I’m late.’

And then he wrote: ‘There is NO service on the #piccadillyline hello! @tfl the train hasn’t moved for 20 minutes!!! You cannot hear what the driver is saying?!!’

When TFL responded to his tweets, Toby added: ‘Check your screens and info, Sat here for over 20 minutes now and can’t get off?!!!’

And then: ‘Please @tfl can you just let the train get into Barons Court so we can get onto another line? Pathetic service!!’

He got another reply from Transport For London, to which he responded: ‘It’s having an impact on everyone! And simply because you can’t get an engineer to fix the signal!’

Toby then tweeted: ‘Good morning @heartdance family, due to @tfl keeping us stick on a tube train on the #piccadillyline in London, I’m unable to be there for the start of my radio show at 7. Fuming!! Apparently they’re trying to wake up an engineer to fix a signal. You couldn’t make it up! #london’.

Speaking directly to the transport service operators on social media once again, Toby explained: ‘I’m hearing you’re still trying to wake up an engineer to fix the bloody signal, while we’re all stick on a train. And now the lights have all gone out?!! I’ll be reporting this and wanting compensation!’

Soon after, he wrote: ‘Please @tfl get this bloody train moving! The lights are out and it’s freezing! This is now totally unacceptable!!!’

And then: ‘Coming up for one hour stuck!!! On a freezing cold, powerless tube train in London. It’s -3, no power, no heating, no announcement, absolutely inexcusable from you lot at @tfl !’

Then Toby took it one step further to tag the Metropolitan Police. ‘Ok, I’m actually being serious now @tfl’, Toby wrote.

‘We are bloody freezing on this train. Stuck between Hammersmith and Barons Ct, you need to get us off, and quickly. I’m also calling the police as there are now aggressive people causing problems. @metpoliceuk @tfl’.

He then went on to update fans shortly after, telling them he would be live on Heart Dance at 8am.

When a follower asked if he was okay following the incident, Toby said: ‘Just! Shook me up a bit I’m not going to lie! Horrendous from @tfl and the London Underground! Hope you’re having a better start to your day Gary.’

Eventually, Toby got into work an hour late – and while some fans were genuinely concerned for Toby’s safety, others thought he was trying to use his fame as a way of being prioritised for help by TFL and the Met Police.

The radio host has taken part in numerous TV shows over the years, including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2006 alongside Jason Donovan, Myleene Klass and Dean Gaffney.
